Fossano, town, Piemonte (Piedmont) region, northern Italy, northeast of Cuneo (city). Fossano is the site of a 14th-century four-sided castle, which belonged to the princes of Acaia; its hospital and the Trinity Church were designed by Francesco Gallo in the 18th century. The town has mineral baths and is an agricultural and cattle-breeding centre. Local industries include textiles, metallurgy, and chemicals. Pop. (2006 est.) mun., 24,274.
